The foreign secretary of the UK said on June 1st that his country believes Morocco’s autonomy plan is the most practical solution to the Western Sahara debate, Middle East Monitor via Reuters reported.
The secretary, David Lammy, said: “The UK will continue to act bilaterally, including economically, regionally and internationally in line with this position to support the resolution of the conflict.”
The UK now joins France and the US in backing the North African nation’s autonomy proposal for Western Sahara. The foreign minister of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, said the move was historic.
