Spain has condemned Israel’s formation of 22 new West Bank settlements, claiming that the settlements breach international law, Middle East Eye reported on May 30th.

Spain’s foreign ministry said in a statement issued on May 30th: “The settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law, undermine the viability of the two-state solution, and are a threat to peace.” Spain also said the settlements could remove the potential to reach peace in the region.

Officials from the European country conveyed their “deepest dismay” over the ongoing military activity, which is taking place near the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarm and Nur Shams.
