A centre handing out food aid in Gaza on May 27th was overwhelmed by desperate Palestinians who consequently broke down fences, Africanews reported.
The Israeli military said its soldiers carried out a warning attack in the area outside the centre. The military also said that “control over the situation was established.” Reportedly, at least three Palestinians suffered injuries.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) had opened the aid centre, outside Rafah, on May 26th. Following almost three months of an Israeli blockade on aid, Palestinians have faced a hunger crisis. On May 27th, hundreds and thousands of people, including children walked for a number of miles to get to the GHF centre.
