Saudi Arabia has dismissed reports that it will remove a long-established prohibition of alcohol in the nation before the World Cup in 2034, Middle East Eye via Reuters reported on May 27th.

A handful of global media companies said this week that authorities of the Gulf nation were intending to permit alcohol to be sold in tourist areas. The report was initially seen in a wine blog, but it did not refer to a source.

It had reported that the prohibition, which has been active for 73% years, would be removed for wine, beer and cider in licensed places.
