A suspect who was alleged to have opened fire on two Israeli embassy workers near a Washington DC Jewish museum has now been charged with first-degree murder, the BBC via Reuters reported on May 23rd.
The attack which took play on the night of May 21st has been probed as a hate crime. The suspect, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, has also been charged with the murder of international officials.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said on May 22nd: “This is a death penalty-eligible case.” Steve Jenson of the FBI’s Washington DC field office described the attack as “an act of terror” and said it was a targeted act of violence against Jews.
