Syria eyes recovery as country prepares to receive gas from Turkey

Syria will begin receiving gas from Turkey next month, as the two nations are looking to set up a gas pipeline which will connect them, Asharq Al-Awsat via Reuters reported on May 22nd.

Alparslan Bayraktar, Turkey’s Energy Minister, has said that his country intends to give six million cubic meters of natural gas daily to the war-hit nation, The Jerusalem Post reported on May 16th. The gas would be used to run an Aleppo power station.

Bayraktar has said the gas will travel through a pipeline from Turkey’s province Kilis to Aleppo. In Syria, infrastructure work for the project is in progress.
