An intelligence group from China was busted in Turkey after its agents purportedly listened in on Uyghurs and Turkey’s officials by using mobile towers that were fake, Middle East Eye reported on May 21st.

Earlier in May, Turkey’s intelligence declared that it had caught seven suspected culprits. Their vehicles contained IMSI-catcher devices which accumulate data, phone records, conversations as well as wider data from phones nearby.

Intelligence sources suggested that some people from the group had arrived in Turkey in March. But according to a May 20th report from CNN Turk the spying activities had gone on for five years.
