The humanitarian chief of the United Nations, Tom Fletcher, has said that 14,000 babies in Gaza could face death in just two days if aid deliveries are not brought to the territory, the BBC reported on May 20th.

Fletcher, who is the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs said in conversation with the BBC’s Radio 4 Today programme, that thousands of aid lorries were ready to head to Gaza. Fletcher said that the trucks were carrying “baby food and nutrition”.

Israel has claimed that Hamas has been taking the aid and misusing it, but the group has claimed this is not true. On May 19th, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said “we must not reach a situation of famine.”
