Members of one the UK’s leading supermarket chains, the Co-operative Group, have voted in favour of prohibiting Israeli products from its stores, due to the continued military assault in Gaza, Middle East Eye reported on May 19th.

Roughly 73% of members were in favour of the non-binding proposal that urged the board to present “moral courage and leadership” by prohibiting products of Israel. The board of the Co-operative Group has said that it will consider the proposal.

The proposal referred to a former motion which had been enacted after Russia invaded Ukraine during 2022, to boycott products from Russia.
