Arab leaders meeting in Baghdad on May 17th called for an immediate end to Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, the Associated Press reported.
They also demanded the unconditional flow of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian territories and pledged to support reconstruction efforts once the war ends. The summit was attended by key regional figures including Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The leaders also backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ interests in a global conference to work towards a two-state solution to achieve lasting peace in the region.
