An official from Syria has suggested that normalisation with Israel could be in the works during an interview with an Israeli media company, Middle East Eye reported on May 15th.

Kan News had asked Ali al-Rifai, director of public relations for the information ministry of Syria, about the potential of Syria entering the Abraham Accords. The accords prompted several Arab nations to recognise Israel.

Al-Rifai said: “Peace with everyone, without exception.” The director also said that his country wants to create “peace in the region” and “with everyone.” But he also stressed that his country does not want any group to attack it.
