Following six days of drone attacks on the Sudanese city of Port Sudan, a huge rise in the cost of water is one of the many problems that have come about as a result of the assault, the BBC reported on May 10th.

Rescue units are operating on the sites which have now been destroyed, but are finding it difficult to stop the fires from continuing. The BBC spoke to 26-year-old Mutasim of Port Sudan, who had reportedly waited for hours for a water vendor to arrive.

He said that a day’s worth of water cost him 2000 Sudanese pounds (£2.50) seven days ago, but that he now has to pay five-fold that price.
