Syrians rejoice as Trump says US sanctions will be dropped

Donald Trump, the president of the US, declared on May 13th that his nation’s sanctions on Syria will be removed, prompting the Syrian people to rejoice, according to Al Jazeera.

On May 13th in Saudi Arabia, Trump said: “I will be ordering the cessation of sanctions against Syria in order to give them a chance at greatness.” The visit to the country forms part of a three-day trip to the Middle East.

On the night of May 13th, Syrians rejoiced in Umayyad Square, central Damascus, following Trump’s announcement, The National reported on May 14th.
