Over 380 people from the film industry denounced the war on Gaza in an open letter published on May 13th, as the Cannes Film festival is set to take place on the same day, according to Middle East Eye.
The letter said: “We cannot remain silent while genocide is taking place in Gaza.” Those who signed the letter include Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, the Spanish director, Pedro Almodovar, and Ruben Ostlund, an ex-winner of the festival. They condemned Israel’s killing of Fatima Hassouna, who was a Palestinian photojournalist.
The signatories also include British director, Jonathan Glazer, who gained an Oscar for “The Zone of Interest”, which is an Auschwitz drama.
