Gaza is alarmingly at risk of famine, with 22% of its people facing an impending humanitarian crisis following Israel’s obstruction of aid, according to a food security monitor.
Gaza’s approximate 2.4 million population is in danger of facing a food catastrophe or more severe circumstances by September, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), the Al-Monitor via AFP reported on May 12th.
The IPC said: “Nineteen months into the conflict, the Gaza Strip is still confronted with a critical risk of famine.” The IPC also said there had been a significant decline in the food supply circumstances since its evaluation in October last year.
