US House Democrats call for Israel to remove Gaza aid blockade

At least 94 US House Democrats have urged Israel to stop its obstruction of humanitarian aid entering Gaza, arguing that the move harms Israel’s global reputation, the Middle East Eye reported on May 8th.
The lawmakers have also said that the move is “strategically counterproductive.” The Democrats called for a swift course of action so that shipments can restart and to join forces with the US and aid organisations to stop resources from rerouting.
A new ceasefire agreement is “[t]he only option to alleviate the suffering of both Israelis and Palestinians,” according to the letter.
