Israeli settlers target Palestinian village in occupied West Bank

Palestinian residents from the Asira al-Qibliya village, which is south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, were attacked by Israeli settlers, Middle East Eye via Wafa news agency reported on May 1st.

The settlers who were together with the Israeli military targeted Palestinians from the west of Asira al-Qibliya, according to Hafez Saleh, who leads the Asira al-Qibliya Village Council. There are no injuries recorded as of yet, but witnesses heard gunfire.

Earli, Israeli settlers abducted two Palestinian children near Beit Furik, east of Nablus, Middle East Eye reported on April 20th. The children were playing near their homes when settlers tied them to a tree. Local residents intervened to rescue the children, and although no physical injuries were reported, the psychological impact was blatant. This is the first recorded case of child abduction by settlers in the town.

Israeli settler attacks are accelerating within the occupied West Bank, with residents face daily threats to their safety, land, and property.

On March 14th, Middle East Eye reported that hundreds of Israeli settlers, accompanied by Israeli soldiers, stormed the Palestinian village of Kifl Haris. According to Palestinian activist Ihab Hassan, Israeli forces closed off the village early in the morning “under the pretext of [the settlers] visiting religious sites.” Prior to that, Israeli settlers had also attacked two villages in southern Nablus, setting fire to Palestinian homes and vehicles.
