Sudan severs relations with UAE over purported paramilitary support

Sudan has cut relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the Sudanese Defence Minister has alleged that the UAE supports the North African’s nation’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Africanews and AP reported on May 7th.
The Defence Minister, Yassin Ibrahim, claimed that the UAE has supported the RSF via a “proxy” role after a number of attacks on Port Sudan by the RSF.
These accusations, which include allegations of financial, military and political aid for the RSF have been denied by the UAE. The allegations from Sudan mean that Sudan’s diplomatic missions in the gulf country will now close and the Sudanese ambassador will consequently be recalled.
