Palestinians suffer torture and medical neglect, commission says

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission said that hunger, a lack of medical attention and torture are affecting Palestinian prisoners in Israel’s jails, especially in Negev prison, Middle East Eye reported on May 6th.
According to the commission, detainees who are unwell experience “deliberate and systematic medical neglect,” with the circumstances in Negev prison getting worse as time goes on.
Case studies revealed by the commission include Hussein Abu Kuwaik. He lost 60kg while under detention, and has joint inflammation but received no medical care, although he was jailed for 17 years. Several detainees also said they had got dangerous intestinal infections.
