Mauritania denies connection to visit of Sudan paramilitary adviser

The government of Mauritania has claimed it did not have any involvement in the visit of the adviser to the commander of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to the nation, Middle East Monitor via RT Arabic reported on May 1st.

El-Houssein Ould Meddou, the Mauritanian Minister of Culture and government spokesperson, said during a Nouakchott press conference in the evening of April 30th that the visit of the adviser, Mohamed Al-Mukhtar, was not an official one but a “private visit based on a personal invitation.”

Al-Mukhtar said that the government did not invite the adviser.
