UN agency says 800 Palestinian children will lose right to education

UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, says 800 Palestinian children will lose out on their right to education as six of its occupied East Jerusalem schools will reportedly close by November 8th.
The West Bank director of the UNRWA, Roland Friedrich, said the closure endangers children’s futures and violates the legal obligations of Israel, Middle East Eye reported on April 30th.
Friedrich said: “Dreams of becoming doctors or scientists could vanish overnight.” The move comes after Israel’s laws of October last year, which prohibited UNRWA operations. In response to the move, the foreign ministry of Palestine alleged that Israel has enforced its curriculum on students in Palestine.
