UK joins US military campaign, launches strikes on Yemen

The UK has joined forces with the US in its military campaign in Yemen, launching air strikes on Yemen’s Houthi rebels, in the first British involvement in a brutal US offensive against the Houthis, The Guardian reported on April 30th.
Several buildings 15 miles south of the capital of Sana’a were targeted by RAF Typhoons. The UK has claimed the buildings were used by the Houthis to make drones that had targeted shipping within the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
John Healey, the UK defence secretary, said the attack came into effect in retaliation against “a persistent threat from the Houthis to freedom of navigation.”
