US Navy loses $60m fighter jet, which plunged into Red Sea

An American F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet slipped off a hangar deck on April 28th while the aircraft was being towed into place, the New Arab via AP reported.

Two crew members were sitting in the pilot seat, but then jumped out before the aircraft plunged overboard. A defense official has said that the sailor who jumped suffered a minor injury. The incident is being investigated.

The USS Harry S. Truman has been stationed in the Middle East for a number of months amid heightened military activity targeting Yemen-based Houthi rebels.
