Israel’s closure of charitable fund condemned by Jerusalem governor

Israel’s shutdown of a charitable fund, known as the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment has been denounced by the Jerusalem governor’s office, Middle East Eye reported on April 29th.

The office said the closure was an intentional move to weaken Palestinians’ lives in the city. The closure was ordered by Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The office spoke of the closure in a statement as “an aggressive step,” in line with the wider Israeli campaign of eroding Palestinian presence in the east of Jerusalem. The fund is known as a non-profit that was created by East Jerusalem’s Palestinian residents to help local people living under the occupation.
