Turkey claims it has not put pressure on Hamas for a ceasefire deal

Turkey has officially denied that its foreign minister put pressure on Hamas to make compromises in ceasefire negotiations with Israel, Middle East Eye reported on April 28th.

In response to the allegation made towards the foreign minister, Hakan Fidan, the spokesperson of Turkey’s foreign ministry, Oncu Keceli, said: “The claim published by an Israeli newspaper does not reflect the truth.”

On April 27th in Doha, the foreign minister met with Hamas Shura Council chairman Muhammad Ismail Darwish and other key officials to have talks on achieving a sustainable ceasefire and the necessity of providing aid to the Gaza Strip, a Turkish document said.
