Israeli FM condemns UN court hearings on Gaza aid

Israel’s foreign minister has condemned the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its hearings on aid for Gaza, following the country’s ongoing blockade of aid reaching the enclave, Middle East Eye reported on April 28th.

The foreign minister, Gideon Saar, has alleged that the court has led a “systematic persecution and delegitimisation” of his country. During a briefing, Saar said that the ICJ had become entirely politicised and said the hearings were “shameful.”

The court’s hearings are centred around Israel’s duty of maintaining that humanitarian aid is delivered to Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Israel started a blockade on crucial aid entering the enclave on March 2nd.
