Lebanon gets initial okay for $400m World Bank loan

The Lebanese Finance Minister declared that his nation has got the initial green light to increase a World Bank loan for reconstruction from $250 million to $400 million, Al-Monitor via Reuters reported on April 23rd.
Yassine Jaber, the finance minister, who is leading the Lebanese representatives to the Spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, made the declaration following talks with Osama Weden, the World Bank Vice President.
A statement from Lebanon’s prime minister, Nawaf Salam’s office, on March 12th said that in early March, the World Bank presented a $1 billion funding package for Lebanon’s reconstruction, which included a loan of $250 million.
