Dissidents designated as terrorists by the UAE

A total of 11 political dissidents and their family members have been designated as terrorists by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in what has been described by a human rights group as a far-reaching clampdown on dissent, Middle East Eye reported on April 22nd.
In January, the UAE declared a decision, in which 11 people and eight companies were unilaterally put on its terrorism list for their purported associations with the Muslim Brotherhood.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) said: “The authorities did not inform these individuals or entities prior to the designation, nor was there any opportunity to respond to or contest the allegations.” HRW also said that the eight companies are only registered in the UK.
