At least 25 dead as Israeli air strikes hit Gaza Strip

According to the Palestinian Civil Defence (PCD), Israeli air strikes across the Gaza Strip killed at least 25 Palestinians on April 22nd, as reported by Middle East Eye via AFP.

Mohammed al-Moughair, a PCD official, stated that a strike on a house in central Khan Younis killed nine people and left six others missing.

Further strikes killed five people in al-Shati refugee camp, located to the west of Gaza City, and five others— such as one woman— in a tent of uprooted people, northeast of Jabalia camp. Another strike killed four individuals west of Jabalia, while two more died in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

On April 15th, Gaza’s Health Ministry stated that Israeli attacks had killed at least 51,000 Palestinians and injured 116,343 since October 7th 2023, according to Middle East Eye, as cited by Levantis. Middle East Eye via Al Jazeera reported on April 7th that 15,000 children have been killed in the conflict.

A study published in The Lancet, as reported by Al-Monitor on January 9th, estimated that official records may have underreported Gaza’s death toll by around 40%. Using multiple data sources, the study suggested the true number of deaths could exceed 64,000.
