Hamas delegation goes to Egypt to talk new ideas for ceasefire

A delegation from Hamas had headed to Egypt to talk about new ideas for reaching a truce with Israel, a senior official from the Palestinian group said, France 24 via AFP reported on April 22nd.

The official said: “The delegation will meet with Egyptian officials to discuss new ideas aimed at reaching a ceasefire.” This comes after Hamas turned down Israel’s latest proposal for a ceasefire.

On March 18th, Israel restarted its military campaign on Gaza, which saw the fragile two-month ceasefire draw to a close. Philippe Lazzarini, who heads the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, described Gaza on X as a “land of desperation.”
