US to ditch Ukraine peace talks unless truce has a chance
The US Secretary of State has said his country will give up on attempting to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine in just days, unless there are evident indications that a truce can be achieved.
The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio said: “We’re not going to continue with this endeavour for weeks and months on end.” Rubio also said that his country had “other priorities” to take up its attention.
In 2022, Russia conducted an invasion of Ukraine at full scale. Russia has also put several conditions on any possible ceasefire. Rubio’s remarks follow Ukraine’s move to take the initial step towards striking a minerals deal with the US.
