Fire in Sudan refugee camp destroys more than 50 houses

More than 50 houses have been destroyed due to a fire in a camp of people who are displaced in Darfur, Sudan, Rédaction Africanews and AP reported on April 17th.

The General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugees in Darfur took footage that revealed the fire that took place on April 15th in Mukjar camp.

No casualties were reported and the reason behind the fire has not been identified. According to the UN humanitarian agency, over 300 civilians died in a two-day period of violence in the western region of Darfur. The conflict in Sudan erupted on April 15th 2023.
