Columbia University pro-Palestine activist could face deportation

Mahmoud Khalil, who was a vital part of Columbia University’s pro-Palestine protests, will appear in a Louisiana court on April 11th where a judge will decide if he can be deported, Middle East Eye reported.
Khalil was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in March. His wife presented evidence that he holds a green card, which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed had also been revoked.
The case relies heavily on a two-page letter, in which Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Khalil’s “presence or activities would compromise a compelling US foreign policy interest”.
Marc L Van Der Hout, who is one of Khalil’s lawyers, said the submitted evidence should be “clear, convincing and unequivocal.”
