The biggest professional society for the study and teaching of US history has passed a resolution which condemns the “scholasticide” in Gaza caused by Israel, the Middle East Eye reported on April 8th.

The Organization of American Historians (OAH), passed the resolution during a OAH business meeting, taking place in Chicago. The OAH publishes the Journal of American History.

A majority of 104 people voted for the motion, but 25 were against it. Israel has bombed and largely destroyed all of the 12 universities in Gaza, together with hundreds of primary and secondary schools. Over 200 heritage sites have also faced destruction.
