Israeli soldier reveals systematic use of Palestinians as human shields

A former Israeli soldier has revealed that the army systematically makes Palestinians act as human shields, an action which is known as the “mosquito protocol,” the Middle East Eye via Haaretz reported on April 1st.
The ex-Israeli soldier who wrote anonymously for the newspaper, Haaretz, said that the use of “shawishes” — Palestinians made to clear homes before the soldiers come in— became extensive in infantry units.
The soldier said that every platoon has at least one of these, with whole brigades practically organising a “sub-army of slaves.” His comments highlight the accusations coming from rights groups that Israel routinely breaches international law during its military activity in Gaza.
