The US airstrikes on Yemen are “unconstitutional” according to several political advocacy groups, including Dawn, Action Corps, and Just Foreign Policy, stated on March 27th, reported by Middle East Eye.

They argued that any act of war requires congressional authorisation, which the Trump administration did not obtain. The groups emphasised that Congress should halt the strikes and uphold its war-declaring authority under Article 1 of the Constitution and the 1973 War Powers Resolution.

Citing the UN Charter, they argued that such attacks are unjustified unless in self-defence or sanctioned by the UN. Experts also suggest that the strikes under Biden were more “surgical” than airstrikes under Trump.
