Wildfires in South Korea kill at least 24

Wildfires in South Korea’s southern regions have killed at least 24 people and left 27,000 residents with no choice but to evacuate, AL24 News via Reuters reported on March 26th.
The fires started on March 21st, destroying more than 200 structures, such as an ancient Buddhist temple and have burnt land of over 43,000 acres. Within the death toll was a helicopter pilot who crashed. But the majority of the victims were elderly residents.
At present, firefighters are struggling with powerful winds, which have reportedly fueled the fires, causing them to spread to different areas, such as the historic Hahoe folk village, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
