Tunisian PM sacked by president amid economic crisis

Kais Saied, the Tunisian President sacked Prime Minister Kamel Maddouri amid a struggling economy and an increasing level of migrants coming from sub-Saharan African nations, The New Arab via Reuters reported on March 21st.

Sara Zaafarani replaced Maddouri, with Zaafarani being an engineer who has been the housing and equipment minister since 2021. In under two years, she is Tunisia’s third Prime Minister.

Saied has noticeably condemned the performance of ministers in recent months, saying that many of them have not reached the necessary standards, asserting that Tunisians have high expectations.
