Syrian aid convoys sent to people affected by coastal violence

Aid convoys that are volunteer-led were sent to provide food baskets, blankets and other vital items for Syrians affected by the violence taking place in coastal provinces earlier in March, The New Arab reported on March 21st.
Syria’s coastal region in recent weeks has seen a sharp rise in violence, especially in Latakia and Tartous, regions that have been seen as Assad regime strongholds.
The conflict accelerated when Assad-aligned militants attacked Syrian security forces near Jableh, causing casualties among government staff. In response, fighters who are aligned with the current government attacked villages such as Sheer, Mukhtariyeh, and Haffah, causing the deaths of dozens of men.
