Lebanon and Syria reach ceasefire after deadly border clashes

Michel Menassa, Lebanon’s Defence Minister and Murhaf Abu Qasra, Syria’s Defence Minister have agreed on a ceasefire, following two days of border clashes, The National via Reuters reported on March 18th.

Since March 16th, at least nine people have been killed during the conflict between Syrian and Lebanese forces. The people who died included four Syrian soldiers and a Lebanese boy of 15 years, who died in a Syrian bomb attack in the village of Qasr.

The clashes which took place on the boundary between the Homs Syrian governate and the Hermel province in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, started off with four members of the new Syrian defence troops being killed.
