Israel to remain in five strategic areas in south Lebanon

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz says his country’s military will remain at five key areas in the south of Lebanon, despite talks over the 13 disputed points on the border, the Middle East Eye via The Times of Israel reported on March 14th.
Katz said on March 13th that his country’s military will stay at the “five points that control the buffer zone in Lebanon, indefinitely, for the sake of protecting the residents of the north, and this is without any connection to future negotiations on points of dispute on the border.”
On March 11th, the US said it is mediating discussions between Israel and Lebanon to deal with existing disputes, such as the liberation of Lebanese detainees as well as land border disagreements.
