UNICEF: 3.3 million Sudanese children in danger of acute malnutrition

UNICEF announced on March 12th that around 3.3 million Sudanese children are in danger of experiencing acute malnutrition, according to the Middle East Monitor.

UNICEF said in a statement on X that 17 million children have not been in school for almost two years due to the conflict. UNICEF’s emergency programme director, Lucia Elmi, said: “The level of crisis in #Sudan is unprecedented.”

On February 13th, Doctors Without Borders said that half of the population of Sudan, which is 24.6 million people, are experiencing extreme food insecurity, including 8.5 million people which are in desperate conditions or near famine.
