Five Lebanese captives who had been detained by Israel have been freed and have arrived in Lebanon on March 11th, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported, according to the Middle East Eye.

The detainees were handed over to the Red Cross and are presently having health checks at the Lebanese-Italian hospital in Tyre. Israel had previously said it would free five Lebanese captives who were detained during the period of its war with Hezbollah.

A statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said: “In coordination with the United States and as a gesture to Lebanon’s new president, Israel has agreed to release five Lebanese detainees.”
