Mark Carney will replace Justin Trudeau as Canada’s next Prime Minister, meaning the former central banker will lead the country while Donald Trump’s administration reportedly puts its economic future at risk, The National via Bloomberg reported on March 9th.

Carney, who is the former Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor, won the race to lead the country’s Liberal Party. Carney is anticipated to take up his new role within days.

With Canada being strongly reliant on trade with the US, Trump has conveyed a desire to implement “economic force” for Canada to become the 51st state. This has ignited anger of a patriotic type in Canada.
