Germany condemns Israel’s aid freeze and electricity cut in Gaza

freezing aid and cutting electricity in Gaza

Germany’s government has said that Israel’s obstruction of aid entering Gaza and its decision to stop the supply of electricity to the strip might lead to a new humanitarian emergency in the territory, the Middle East Eye reported on March 10th.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Kathrin Deschauer said in a press conference that Gaza was “again threatened with a food shortage”.

Deschauer added: “We note with great concern the cutting off of electricity and the discussion about stopping the water supply.”  Deschauer also mentioned that Israel’s move is “unacceptable and incompatible” with the country’s obligations, within the remit of international law.
