Lebanese President Joseph Aoun was in talks with Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa on March 4th, during the emergency Arab summit in Cairo, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

They talked about several unresolved issues between their countries and “agreed to coordinate through joint committees that will be established after the formation of the new Syrian government,” according to a Lebanese Presidency statement.

They also emphasized the need to control the border between both nations to “prevent all kinds of violations.” Syria has a 205 mile border with Lebanon with no official seperation at various points, which means it lacks security and is inclined to be used for smuggling.
