Palestinians in Gaza fear famine following Israel’s aid blockade

Palestinians in Gaza are fearful of a return to extreme starvation which they experienced during the 15-month conflict, after the Israeli government decided to obstruct the flow of goods and fuel on March 2nd, The New Arab reported on March 5th.
Israel’s decision followed the end of phase one of the ceasefire deal and was a reaction to Hamas rejecting a proposal from the US to extend phase one of the agreement.
Mohammed Al-Firani, 42, who has a family of six told The New Arab: “Israel’s decision to stop the entry of goods into Gaza portends a severe famine. People here are afraid of what is coming, so they buy goods in quantities that exceed their daily needs.”
