Oxfam has said that 80% of of water and sanitation networks in Gaza are damaged or destroyed, due to the war between Israel and Hamas, Asharq Al-Awsat reported on February 19th.

The damaged networks include all six of the key wastewater treatment plants. The damage of the networks has sped up the spread of water-borne disease as hundreds and thousands of people reportedly take shelter in tent camps, according to Oxfam.

In a report, the World Bank made an estimate that it would cost more than $50 billion for Gaza to be rebuilt. This is significantly more than double the total Palestinian economic output of 2022.
