Syria: Renovation underway at Damascus International Airport

A team from Turkey consisting of 25 experts have began efforts to help renovate Syria’s Damascus International Airport, Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said on February 16th, according to The New Arab.

In a statement, Uraloglu said: “Our team, consisting of personnel from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority, has been deployed to restore Damascus Airport, which was severely damaged and became inoperable during the 13-year-long Syrian civil war.”

Uraloglu also said that the experts on February 7th entered Syria through the Cilvegozu Border Gate in the Hatay province of south Turkey.

Uraloglu said that the technical team, which is made up of experts from various disciplines, had transported vital resources to help the rebuilding process of the airport.
