Iraq’s Federal Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit from President Abdul Latif Rashid against Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani and Finance Minister Taif Sami Mohammed for delays of paying civil servants in the Kurdish region of Iraq, The National reported on February 18th.

Rashid had requested that the court issues an order to make sure the workforce in the Kurdish region are “paid continuously and on time” claiming that “technical issues should not delay” public worker salaries.

The Kurdistan Regional Government had strongly disagreed with the federal government over issues such as energy deals, since the 2003 US-led invasion that caused the fall of Saddam Hussein and aided the Kurds to get official semi-autonomy.
